Dubai Intellectual Property

Federal Law came in to the UAE in 1992 concerning Intellectual Property and this was subsequently amended in 2002 and again in 2006.  The UAE has been a member of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property since 1996.  It is also a member of various other worldwide organisations such as the Berne Convention, the Madrid Convention, the WTO, TRIPS and the Patent Cooperation Treaty of 1970 amongst others.  The UAE recognises a broad range of Intellectual Property rights.

Dubai is constantly striving to attract foreign investors and this is also reflected in its history for Intellectual Property protection.  Dubai is positively teeming with professional firms that are highly experienced in Intellectual Property law.   Consequently the UAE is a territory in which international intellectual property rights are understood and protected.  In additions the UAE’s Industrial Property Law of 2006 is specifically designed to protect trade secrets maintaining Dubai’s reputation for confidentiality.
